Dr. Matangira was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and raised in Davidson, North Carolina until her family moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa during her high school years.
In middle school, she had an accident where she ran into a pole, breaking one of her front teeth. After her local dentist restored her smile back to normal, she knew she wanted to the same for others when she grew up. Subsequently, she shadowed several dentists throughout high school alongside taking pre-dental classes at the local community college up until her graduation, where she graduated a year early.
After high school, she lived for a year in Johannesburg, South Africa before attending Iowa State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology and her Master of Biomedical Sciences. Throughout her time in college, she was a part of the Beta Beta Beta academic society, held the Treasurer’s seat in her pre-dental school club, and volunteered throughout her local community alongside her parents in the family’s native country of Zimbabwe.
After graduating with her master’s, she was granted admission into the prestigious Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, D.C. where she continued her education. It was there she volunteered her time and skills to benefit the underprivileged local populace and mentored aspiring students in the field of dentistry.
Upon graduation from Howard University College of Dentistry, she continued her learning by attending a 1-year residency at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine for Advanced Education in General Dentistry.
Serving the community with the core values of consistency, compassion, competency, and communication is Dr. Matangira’s passion. She continues to strive to provide the highest quality of holistic comprehensive patient focused care. Her dedication to the dental profession is a lifelong commitment, as she continues to learn from her patients, peers, and mentors.
Her time away from the office is spent gardening, reading, painting, as well as running. She also enjoys “glamping” with her friends and hiking various state parks around the U.S. She is overjoyed to be a team member of the Dental Arts Ninth Street office and is excited to serve the St. Petersburg community!
